Over the past decade, East Riverside has blossomed into one of the most beautifully vibrant communities in Austin. Nestled along the banks of Town Lake extending east of Interstate 35, the area that was once considered less-than-desirable has undergone major redevelopment and is now home to glamorous strip malls, beloved ethnic restaurants, fantastic music venues and affordable luxury living. One of the greatest perks of living in the revitalized community is its proximity to the city’s downtown entertainment district, the University of Texas and eclectic South Austin.
Last Saturday, residents of the community’s South Shore District lifestyle center, along with friends and neighbors, celebrated the culmination of the community’s growth with the East Riverside Spirits & Music Festival.
The inaugural festival, organized by Austin’s sommelier community builder, Bwinedate and partners South Shore District, AT&T and Barbara Van Dyke of Sothesby, featured a delicious assortment of spirits, wines and cocktails from some of central Texas’ most tasteful distilleries. Several local brands represented at the East Riverside festival included Emerald Absinthe, Spirit of Texas, Austonian, Chaparral and Caffe Del Fuego premium coffee liqueur. The festival also featured the launch of Stillhouse Whiskey in Texas. Festival patrons were treated to a spirits panel discussion and provided the opportunity to engage with Master Distillers all-the-while enjoying the sounds of several favorite Austin musicians. The festival featured an amazing lineup of musicians including Ulrich Ellison & Tribe, Jake Andrews Band, Tje Austin, Ella Reid, James Junius and Jam Therapy.
